Wandern Kiental Gamchi

HIKING

From the Via Alpina Königsetappe or white-water trail to the family walk. Between the entrance to the valley and the UNESCO World Heritage Site below Gspaltenhorn, a network of trails delights both seasoned climbers and leisurely nature-lovers.

TOP 5 HIKING TRAILS

Admittedly, the two Via Alpina sections set the bar quite high for hikes. Nevertheless, there are numerous routes around the Kiental Valley that can easily match them in terms of views and variety.

VIA ALPINA

With the family around the lake? Alone up to the Alpine peaks? Kandersteg offers the whole range of hiking routes, from the Via Alpina stage in the UNESCO World Heritage site to a gentle riverside wander in the national nature reserve.

HIKING BESIDE WATER

Floodplains, waterfalls, streams and lakes. Where the cool water is so versatile, the network of paths doesn’t take a back seat. On these routes, the focus is on the alpine banks - and they are dotted with idyllic resting places.

THEME PATHS

Alpine farming, white-water rapids and a mountain culture characterise the people of the Bernese Oberland - and so do the hiking trails. These trails are peppered with educational and entertaining information points to linger, play and marvel at.

FAMILY HIKES

Easy, short and without too many ups and downs. The smaller round tours starting in Kiental village are well suited for those venturing out for the first time. Kids will also get their money's worth on the descent from Ramslauenen or beside the streams.

PANORAMA HIKES

... and suddenly glaciers and neighbouring valleys are remarkably close. On these pass crossings and high-altitude trails, the horizon opens up before you. This applies not only to the end of the valley, but also to various routes from Ramslauenen.

MOUNTAIN HIKES

Crossings such as Sefinenfurgge or Hohtürli and peaks such as Engelhorn and Schwalmere attract practised hikers from far and wide to the Kiental. The Gamchi glacier and the surrounding alps are further rewarding destinations.

HUT HIKES

Blüemlisalp, Gspaltenhorn, Schilthorn and Rotstock: Among these well-known peaks, alpine hospitality is written in capital letters. This makes mountain huts ideal as a base and destination for Kiental alpine tours.

GENTLER WALKS

It doesn't always have to be a high-altitude tour. If you prefer lighter footwear and want to reach your destination in just one or two hours, you will find comfortable alternatives down in the valley or on easy descents.
